The Richards family devoted their lives to service and education. Paul S. Richards' grandfather was Willard Richards, a medical doctor and general authority in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Paul studied medicine at the University of Utah (U of U) and then at Harvard University. After which he returned to Salt Lake where he practiced medicine for many years.
Ethel Richards attended the U of U and graduated from Utah State Agricultural College on her way to becoming a schoolteacher at Salt Lake LDS High School and Granite High School.
Lenore Richards followed in her parents' footsteps. At an early age she studied many subjects including French. Later she went to the Temple University Medical School where she studied medicine. After becoming a medical doctor she returned to the Salt Lake Valley to practice medicine and become one of the first female surgeons in the state of Utah.
The Richards Family Collection mainly consists of notes taken by different family members while attending various classes. A recipe book created by Ethel Richards is also included.
