The first meeting of the Japanese American Civic League's Salt Lake chapter was held at the Japanese Church of Christ on 8 March 1935. The chapter's membership has grown in size over the years and in 1985 it was the fourth largest congregation in the United States. The chapter was established as a means for the Japanese-Americans to fraternize.
The collection contains photographs and negatives of the activities of the Japanese American Civic League from 1940 to 1980.
