This collection documents activities of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service in Utah during the 1930s and 1940s. The focus is on how natural and man-made activities affect the soil and its retention capabilities. Erosion (natural and overgrazing), grazing practices, flooding, irrigation, land use, sheep/cattle trails, vegetation (natural and reseeding practices), water retention, effects of wind erosion are documented. Landowners are also named on the cards. The photographs are mounted on cards with accompanying information included on each card. The cards are arranged numerically with a description.
