The collection includes a variety of invitations, announcements, programs, and holiday correspondence received by Florence Butler between 1949 and 2009, though the majority of the collection dates from 2000 to 2009. Butler, a lifelong resident of Utah, described her collection as a hard copy version of the social networking website Facebook. The collection is unique in that it represents Butler's social circle, but researchers may also discern changing trends in postal etiquette and aesthetics.
The collection is arranged alphabetically by topic. To maintain the integrity of the collection, it has been described in the Container List at the item level. The wedding announcements in the collection are arranged chronologically to help the researcher identify change over time.
