Arts & Museums Programs


Arts Education & Learning

We believe that the arts are essential to the lifelong education of all Utahns. Arts education and learning services offered by the division encompasses grant funding, technical assistance, training and networking for schools, teachers, artists and nonprofit organizations.


Community Arts

Our community arts team is committed to connecting people and communities all over the state to ensure long term sustainability of arts and museums in Utah. We work closely with Local Arts Agencies, which play an important role in advocating, encouraging, and developing arts and cultural awareness. Another central component to the community arts program is the Change Leader Program, which is a professional development course that develops skills and builds an active network of community leaders.


Folk & Traditional Arts

Utah was among the first state arts agencies to establish programs specifically designed to serve traditional arts and artists. Our folk arts services assist cultural communities in perpetuating their own artistic traditions while fostering public understanding and pride in Utah’s multifaceted cultural heritage.


Literary Arts

Our literary arts mission is to nurture, assist and encourage Utah writers at all levels of accomplishment, in all literary genres, and from every part of the state. We work to assist literary organizations to identify and reach out to new audiences for literature, especially literature written by living Utah writers.


Museums

Museum services acts as a resource for all Utah museums offering grants, consultation, workshops and technical outreach to assist museums become more professional as they care for and exhibit their collections, provide educational programs and attract visitors.


Performing Arts

Performing arts provides support to performing artists and presenting organizations (presenters) in their efforts to build community through the performing arts. Professional development assists artists and presenters to better enable high artistic quality and increase community accessibility.


Visual & Public Arts

Our visual arts artistic heritage is memorialized through the collection, preservation, documentation and exhibition of the State Fine Art Collection. Artists statewide are provided professional development opportunities through fellowships, sponsorship of exhibitions, seminars, and competitions.

Utah’s public art brings art to all of the citizens of the state through the commission and installation of site-specific art for state public buildings electing to participate in the 1/10th of 1% option for art.
