Museum Studies Distance Education
Utah Arts & Museums Office of Museum Services, in partnership with the Utah State University Regional Campus and Distance Education program, offers semester-long courses that lead to a Certificate of Museum Practice. Courses are available across the state through USU’s distance education network and will ultimately be offered through independent online instruction. Professionals, volunteers and board members of Utah museums can apply for tuition scholarships through a simple application process. No scholarships are currently available.
Museum Interpretation Initiative: Telling Our Stories
The Utah Arts & Museums Office of Museum Services, Utah Humanities Council, and Utah Museums Association, invite small museums around the state to take part in Utah’s Museum Interpretation Initiative. The Museum Interpretation Initiative: Telling Our Stories program offers free three full-day hands-on workshops where participants will learn how to research the stories of their collections and place them in historical and cultural contexts, design and produce interpretive exhibits, and develop docent-led tours that follow educational best practices. Participants will also have the opportunity to develop lasting relationships with other museum professionals, volunteers, and in-state experts. Contact the Utah Humanities Council for additional information.
