Utah Arts & Museums Director Lynnette Hiskey has announced the selection of Kirsten Darrington as the next Assistant Director of Utah Arts & Museums.
“Even at this early point in her career, Kirsten has remarkable experience working with artists, arts organizations and community leaders,” said Utah Arts & Museums Director Lynnette Hiskey. “She possesses tremendous creative and organizational skills, and we’re looking forward to employing those skills in her new position.”
“I’m delighted to be appointed to the position of assistant director,” Darrington said. “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to help further the arts and museums across Utah.”
Darrington has worked for Utah Arts & Museums since February 2012. As a member of the Community Arts team, Darrington managed various division events; provided support to performing artists and local arts agencies; and worked with the Change Leader Program, a professional development course created by Utah Arts & Museums with more than 160 members across the state. Most recently, she participated in Americans for the Arts’ leadership development series, the Local Arts Classroom. Darrington received her MFA in arts administration from Southern Utah University, where she managed the Shakespeare in the Schools tour for the Utah Shakespeare Festival. She has also worked for Utah Symphony | Utah Opera, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company and Seattle Repertory Theatre. Darrington earned her BA in arts administration from Westminster College and has a background in theatre.
