Pictographs with headdresses

Pictograph figures with headdresses

Utah is one of the premier  places to experience the past first-hand. People have been living in Utah for centuries, well before European-American settlers arrived.

Clues to the lives of those that came before us are in the objects and places they left behind. Archaeology is the study of these things and places. Piecing together these clues tells us how people worked, gathered food, raised animals, had families, and lived in Utah.

Learn how you can experience archaeology during Utah’s Archaeology Week, learning about early peoples, by visiting archaeological sites  open to the public, learning how to protect  and preserve through your own actions, and how to join an organization  to get more involved in the archaeological community.
