Many Utah library workers participated in the original Turning the Page program held in Salt Lake City in 2008. While that was a 2 day in-person workshop that was tailored to receiving an Opportunity Online grant, this is completely different.
It’s still all about advocacy so some of the work will be familiar; the online modules are the same, for those who didn’t come in person. In 2.0, however, you will develop a customized advocacy goal based on your library’s current needs, instead of focusing on raising funds to match the Opportunity Online hardware grant.
Also, the live online sessions will be taught by an outstanding library expert, Cathy Hakala-Ausperk, whom we heard from in the “How to Hire a Great Director” series done by the Utah State Library. She will be fascinating to learn from and speak with.
Think of it as a way to brush up on the skills developed at the original Turning the Page conference you attended, based on current advocacy needs.
