Health Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteer. You’ll Live Longer:

Volunteering goes beyond helping other people. Research from the Health Benefits of Volunteering shows states with higher rates of volunteerism also have lower rates of mortality and incidences of heart disease. This is great news for Utah because we rank #1 for volunteering in the nation! The research also suggests volunteering reduces rates of depression, alleviates stress, increases social networks, and provides a sense of purpose. Utah needs your skills and experience to keep our communities healthy. However you choose to serve your community we hope you will join our 20th Anniversary celebration by taking the Governor’s challenge personally and making 2014 a year of service!
