Philanthropy Day Announces New Partner

The Utah Philanthropy Day Planning Committee announced today a new partnership with UServeUtah, the Lieutenant Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism.  Utah’s Philanthropy Day, which is currently hosted by Utah Nonprofits Association (UNA) and the Utah Society of Fundraisers (USFR), is led by a committee of nonprofit, business, and government leaders.  The committee anticipates Utah Philanthropy Day will become an even stronger collaboration through the merging of two audiences that go hand-in-hand: philanthropy and volunteerism.

“We are confident that this partnership will create a distinguished event where we recognize Utah’s best volunteers alongside Utah’s best philanthropists,” said Utah Nonprofits CEO Chris Bray and USFR Chair Katherine Fife noted “The partnership among USFR, UNA, and UServeUtah will only strengthen the spirit of Philanthropy Day and help recognize those who are making a difference every day with their time and resources.”The 2014 program has been expanded to include two awards that have been housed under the UServeUtah for the past 20 years; the Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lieutenant Governor’s Civic Volunteer Award. Other Philanthropy Day award categories include:  Foundation Spirit of Giving Award, Corporate Spirit of Giving Award, Outstanding Young Volunteer Award, Norma Matheson Outstanding Volunteer Award,  and the Career Humanitarian Award.  Nominations for the award are due by May 30, 2014.

“We are excited to become a partner with Utah Philanthropy Day” indicated LaDawn Stoddard, Executive Director of UServeUtah. “It seemed to be a natural fit to meld two groups who seek to enhance the well-being of their communities through kindness and generosity.”

This year Philanthropy Day will present the winners of these awards to an audience of over 700 at the annual luncheon slated for November 13, 2014 at Little America in Salt Lake.  For information regarding nominations for the Philanthropy Day Awards visit www.utahphilanthropyday.org.
