Abstract: Anderson Tower (approximately "A" Street and Fifth Ave., Salt Lake City, Utah) was built in 1884 by Robert R. Anderson. It was constructed of gray granite from the same quarry that supplied granite for the Salt Lake Temple. Anderson built the tower as a sentimental reminder of similar towers in Scotland and as a tourist attraction. Anderson thought that tourists might pay to see the view from the tower. This venture was unsuccessful and the tower stood for 48 years before it was razed in 1932. Collection includes historical material, correspondence, maps, blueprints, and other materials generated by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and Sons of Utah Pioneers to erect the Anderson Tower marker in 1993.
