Utah Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month celebrates Utah’s rich archaeological and historical resources with a month of lectures and hands-on learning. Statewide events include:

  • Open house at the South City Campus of Salt Lake Community College with educational activities for kids and adults
  • Annual poster contest
  • Lectures and paper presentations
  • Tours of archaeological and historical sites

  • Utah State Parks Time Traveler Contest
    Date & Time: May 1 to June 30, 2016
    Participating Locations: Anasazi State Park Museum, Historic Fielding Garr Ranch at Antelope Island State Park, Camp Floyd/Stagecoach Inn State Park Museum, Fort Deseret State Park Heritage Area, Danger Cave State Park Heritage Area, Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum, Fremont Indian State Park, Frontier Homestead State Park Museum, Territorial Statehouse State Park Museum, Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum, Historic Huber Apple Orchard and Creamery at Wasatch Mountain State Park.

    Event Description: Visitors will submit their best selfie of themselves as time travelers taken at participating Utah State Parks museums and heritage areas and submit them to our Utah State Parks Facebook page. Only one submission per participating individual or family will be accepted for each site you visit—so be sure to choose your best pic. The contest closes June 30th, 2016. Then the staff of each Utah State Park Museum and Heritage Area will choose their favorite submission. Winners will receive a Year’s Pass to Utah State Parks and other fun prizes.
