Multicultural Youth Leadership Day at the Capitol

About    MYLD 2016   Award Nominations   Past Events

Every year the Utah Office of Multicultural Affairs (MCA) invites students, 8-9th grade, to attend the Multicultural Youth Leadership Day (MYLD) at the Capitol during the legislative session. Typically, MYLD is held in the month of February every year. The day is to engage youth in the legislative process and to gain an understanding of the importance of becoming informed and involved Utah citizens. This event creates an opportunity to help educate legislators about the importance of investing in today’s youth and to encourage students to stay in school, graduate, and become leaders.

A day to empower our youth to become the leaders of tomorrow, students will learn how they can be agents of positive social change in an increasingly diverse and multicultural community. Join MCA in working together to engage, support, and invest in today’s youth of Utah!

As part of the MYLD program students and educators are awarded the Excellence in Education Awards. MCA seeks to recognize outstanding students and educators of Utah for their commitment to educational excellence. A selection committee selects a few students and educators to be honored and awarded during the MYLD program.

The MYLD program consists of speakers, performers, and an awards ceremony. After the main program, volunteers take students and educators on a tour of the Utah Capitol.

We look forward to your attendance at the upcoming Multicultural Youth Leadership Day at the Capitol!
