Every year the Utah Office of Multicultural Affairs (MCA) invites Utah students to attend the Multicultural Youth Leadership Day at the Capitol during the legislative session. Typically, Leadership Day is held during Utah’s Legislative Session every year. The half-day event is to engage youth in the legislative process and to gain an understanding of the importance of becoming informed and involved Utah citizens. This is also an opportunity for legislators to interact with students and educators, and to encourage students to stay in school, graduate, and become future Utah leaders.
As part of the Leadership Day program select students and educators are awarded the Excellence in Education Awards. MCA seeks to recognize outstanding students and educators of Utah for their commitment to educational excellence. A selection committee identifies distinguished students and educators to be honored and awarded during the Leadership Day program.
The Leadership Day program typically consists of speakers, cultural performers, a student and educator awards presentation, an opportunity for capitol tours, and an interactive activity.
A day to empower our youth to become the leaders of tomorrow, students will learn how they can be agents of positive social change in an increasingly diverse and multicultural community. Join MCA in working together to engage, support, and invest in today’s youth of Utah. We look forward to your attendance at the upcoming Multicultural Youth Leadership Day at the Capitol!
